Lyndsey is sharing her care career journey
After completing a Health and Social Care course at College Lyndsey began working with LD: North East on a Saturday and now she’s a Team Leader running her own team.
Now she’s sharing her inspiring career journey and progression story to showcase the opportunities for development within the care sector.
Lyndsey first began working in care after finding herself drawn to providing support and help for her cousin that has Autism and a Learning Disability.
After completing her studies, she began working for four hours on a Saturday in LD: North East’s Outreach Team before securing a full-time role.
Her achievements didn’t stop there, Lyndsey became a Senior in her team and began managing staff and having a case load of clients and was then promoted to Team Lead where she works now.
Her progression story is a fantastic example of how a career in care can lead to more.
In her own words…
Speaking of her future plans she said: “There’s a joke at LD: North East that I’ll become the future CEO and I would definitely love to progress more within my role.
“I don’t see myself being anywhere other than here, it’s been ten years of my life and it’s really rewarding to do this job and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
“You need a lot of patience, but no day is the same. You could wake up one day and be taking someone to a medical appointment but they next day you could be supporting them to attend an activity.
“The feeling you get when you’ve made a difference to someone is the best feeling you could ever have.”
