Level 2 accredited qualifications…

North Tyneside’s Employment and Skills Team are running two fully funded (subject to eligibility) courses, starting this September.

The blended-learning approach means you’ll attend taught sessions to enhance your learning while giving you the learning materials and assessments to do at your own pace between classroom sessions.

It’s a great opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and sessions are held at the YMCA in North Shields.

Safe Handling of Medication in Health and Social Care

This knowledge only qualification is designed for learners who want to develop their understanding of the safe handling of medication. You’ll learn:

  • Medication types and legislation / procedures for safe medication administration
  • Requirements for supply, storage and disposal of medication
  • Record keeping and audit requirements for medication

You’ll attend four sessions between September and November before receiving your qualification. These are:

  • Session one – Understand medication and prescriptions. 21 September, 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Session two – Supply, storage and disposal of medication 5 October, 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Session three – Requirements for safe administration of medication. 19 October, 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Session four – Record keeping and audit processes. 2 November, 09:30am to 13:30pm

Falls Prevention Awareness

This course will give you an understanding of:

  • The impact and consequences of a fall
  • Risks and hazards which contribute to falls
  • Reducing the risk of falls

You’ll attend four sessions between September and October before receiving your qualification. These are:

  • Session one – Falls in Context. 19 September, 9.30am to 12:30pm
  • Session two – The risk factors and causes of falls. 3 October. 09:30am to 12:30pm
  • Session three – Falls assessment and prevention. 17 October. 09:30am to 12:30pm.
  • Session four – Managing falls. 31 October. 09:30am to 13:30pm.
